What is Blacklist Monitoring? 

Blacklist monitoring checks whether your email domain or IP address is flagged by spam filters across 100+ blacklists. By staying updated daily, this feature ensures you can take swift action to maintain high deliverability and keep your emails out of spam folders.

How Mailivery's Blacklist Monitoring Works

This feature is available to all paid subscription plans and enables you to monitor domains and IP addresses for blacklisting. Here's how it works:


  • Daily Updates: Your blacklist status is checked regularly based on your plan.
  • Detailed Reporting: If blacklisted, you receive a report showing:
    • Which blacklist flagged your domain/IP
    • Recommended steps to resolve the issue

Frequency of Checks

The monitoring frequency depends on your plan:

BusinessFour times daily at 12:00AM, 6:00AM, 12:00PM, and 11:00PM

Note: Monitoring times are based on Central Standard Time (CST).

How to Monitor Blacklist Status

Option 1: Manual Monitoring

Use this method if you already know the domain or IP you want to monitor.

Step 1: Open Blacklist Monitoring

  • From your Dashboard, click Blacklist Monitoring.
  • Click the Add new Domain/IP button. A form will appear for adding a new monitor.
  • Choose the Manual monitoring method:

Step 2: Enter Details

  • Add a Name for the monitor.
  • Enter the Domain/IP you want to monitor.

Step 3: Optional Settings

  • Select an email address to receive blacklist reports.

Step 4: Add Monitor

  • Click Add Monitor.

Step 5: Monitor and Take Action

  • Mailivery will automatically check the domain/IP daily.
  • If blacklisted, view the detailed report to see:
    • Which blacklists flagged your domain/IP
    • Recommended steps to fix the issue

Option 2: Detect SMTP IP

Use this method to automatically identify the sending IP of a connected mailbox.


Most users don’t know which IPs their mailbox providers use to send email. SMTP IP Detection solves this by automatically detecting your sending IP for you.

Step 1: Open Blacklist Monitoring

  • From your Dashboard, click Blacklist Monitoring.
  • Click the Add new Domain/IP button. A form will appear for adding a new monitor.
  • Choose the Detect SMTP IP monitoring method:

Step 2: Select Mailbox

  • Choose the connected mailbox you want to detect the sending IP for.

Step 3: Detect IP

  • Click Detect SMTP IP.
  • Mailivery will automatically find the sending IP.

Step 4: Optional Settings

  • Select an email address to receive blacklist reports.

Step 5: Add Monitor

  • Click Add to Monitor to start tracking the detected IP.

Proactive Tips for Better Deliverability

  • Avoid spam trigger words and excessive punctuation.
  • Ensure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are correctly set
  • Regularly check the monitoring table to see the status of all added domains and IPs.
  • Update or remove monitors as needed.
  • Reports can be sent automatically to a designated email address.
